Sinder is born of his mother's affair with a human man and is cast off of Omidande's Anvil to die. A wandering Kingscourge finds the infant Trigarde and takes him as her own. A conflict with the Trigarde of Omidande's Anvil follows and a wide stretch of the Samanutsi Steppe is left scarred by the battle. This does not prevent the Kingscourge from leaving with the infant child.
