Strix

Human neighbors tell horrific tales of slaughter woven with frightened suspicion when speaking of strix. Strix, however, tell a tale of encroachment and a struggle for land and resources. For ages, humans invaded strix lands fighting bloody battles against the fierce, black-skinned creatures they thought to be winged devils. Over time, strix have developed a hatred for humankind and now fiercely protect their dwindling numbers.

Age

Strix do not have as long as a lifespan as other races, living less than a century. They are considered to reach adulthood at 12 years, and usually pass away at 60 years old. Most tend to pass away in their 80's.

Alignment

Strix tend to be more of a Neutral alignment as they would rather live away, out of reach from other creatures that would seek them. They do not actively seek violence but will retaliate if provoked.

Size

Strix are Medium sized creatures.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 25 feet.

Darkvision

You can see within darkness perfectly for about 60 feet. You see your surroundings in shades of gray, making out shapes without a light source.

Flight

You have a flying speed of 40 feet. To take flight, you cannot be wearing medium or heavy armor.

Superior Darkvision

Accustomed to a nocturnal existence and naturally equipped with acute eyesight, you have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 120 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.

Suspicious

Strix receive advantage on saving throws against illusion spells and effects.

Nocturnal

Strix gain a choice of gaining proficiency in Perception or Stealth, as they are use to hiding and needing to scout within dim light or darkness.

You can speak, read, and write Common and Beast Speech.
