The Draak
Powerful warriors and creatures of magic, the Draak are draconic humanoids. It is said that they were not a species native to Theros, but a race that was brought by Golaran to Anestor to serve and protect the country only a mere seventy or so, years ago. They were known as the holy dragon knights, and were instrumental in the revolution of the Four Princes. They are incredibly rare and a new race to Theros, so most people only know of the Draak as they are in myth. In this sense, they are believed to be honorable warriors who will stop at nothing to uphold the peace of their King and Queen. They stand for law, order and goodness. Because of these myths, there is a sense of awe in Anestor regarding the Draak. Their presence frightens criminals and emboldens the common folk.
During the Revolution of the Four Princes, the Marcisians were attacking relentlessly, and they were more organized and battle experienced than the Anestians. It was apparent that the people of Anestor would not be able to win the war without help. Golaran, the great wizard, knew that he had to do something or his revolution would fail, so he went to his crystal ball, and began searching for an answer. How he was led to the Draak is unknown, but what is known is that the Draak lived on another world, on another plane, and that world was being destroyed by a chaotic and alien energy. The Draak were dying out. When Golaran went to them, offering them a new home absent of the Nothing, as they called it, in exchange for assistance in the war, the Draak refused. The Draak did not fear death. They were locked into battle with their god's greatest enemy. The would fight and die happily because they had their honor in tact.
The thing that saved Golaran's argument was that he showed them some of the evil that the Marcisians had done. He explained to them that the could die fighting evil on their world, or they could go on, fighting evil for generations if they came with him. Most did not listen. They were content dying on their world, so long as their deaths were good. Some, however, listened to Golaran's points. Though they were few, some did indeed travel with the wizard to Theros.
While it is true that with their high willpower, the Draak are more difficult to corrupt, and that they were once all honorable, lawful, good people when they were fighting the nothing in their world, and for a time, it stayed like that, but that was a generation ago. The Draak who were born on Theros, rather than being raised in their lawful plane, were beginning to lose their once strong sense of morality. Most still remain lawful, but personalities and morals of the individuals vary in a way they did not when they first arrived.
