005 • Bush-league Ambushes

General Summary

After finishing the skeleton fight in the middle of the night, the party then investigated the sound you heard up the hill from your camp. You discover a vile-looking summoning circle drawn in blood with a Minotaur named Brontes standing on the far side of it as you approach.

He is in a defensive stance as conversation begins and y'all take aggressive stances. As soon as Farouk ibn Mansoor steps foot inside his circle, Brontes kinda freaks out and won't calm down until he's out of the circle. That doesn't happen, so a fight ensues. You defeat him and tie him up unconscious as you sleep for the night.

Overnight, no other beasties sneak up on you, but Mycena does have a pretty wild memory-based dream and wakes up with a gift from her supposedly dead god, Xenagos. In the morning, Milo Tetrimennos wakes up early to create his arcane armor, and while Mycena parties on the side with the Leonin in the group standing guard, you interrogate Brontes. After almost being burned alive, he relents and spills as many beans as he can. Brontes is allowed to live and you carry on your way.

You've managed to find a trickle of a stream that you begin to follow, and, come late afternoon, you spot an inn. Before getting there, you're all ambushed by a force of Returned that is larger than you've experienced before. You're surprised and they target Ananke and Milo but you're able to make quick work of them regardless. You loot their golden burial masks, presumably moving their horrifyingly faceless bodies off the path.

Now, you're approaching Outland Inn.
