Derivative - Class Drone Carrier

A type of drone carrier used by the HEX Mainframe.
The Derivative class is designed with an extremely large number of drones. About 70% of the volume of the ship is used by hangars and drone maintenance and storage equipment. This gives the ship an extremely large firepower for its size, and is able to project that firepower at extremly large ranges. The drones it carries are very small and fast, making them hard to hit with many weapons and swarming enemy CIWS defences. It does rely on having an escort for self defence though.

Power Generation

It has a fusion reactor that is designed with a high efficiency. It can fuse a large amount of hydrogen to produce a lot of power. This has also been built with a large structural integrity, so would not be easily destroyed even when hit.

Propulsion

It is propelled by 8 large fusion thrusters that work by fusing hydrogen within the thruster itself and then directing the powerful radiation backwards using magnetic fields, which pushes the ship forward. This gives the ship a relatively high linear acceleration for its size, but poor RCS thrust (meaning it turns slower).

Armor and defense

It features almost no ship to ship weapons, but it does have a large number of laser CIWS weapons that cover all angles. It is weakly armoured and shielded. This is because it relies on very long range to destroy enemy targets, so it should not be seen in almost all situations. It is difficult to hide from HF tachyon radars however, but the HF has few superluminal weapons.
