Hyperion Standard

A language semi-rarely spoken in almost all corners of the Hyperion Federation.
Hyperion Common was an attempt to allow people of different HF cultures to communicate without use of automatic translation. For example, during events of power failure or powerful electronic warfare. However, due to reliance on said translation technology, few actually learned it. It is taught in many schools, but this wasnt enough. Due to this, the languages of all the individual cultures remained, and are still the most commonly spoken. While Hyperion Common is the most common single language of the HF, the native languages of the various cultures are far more common.
About 1 in 10 of all people can speak Hyperion Standard fluently. This should allow larger groups to communicate, with much difficulty. As such, disrupting this technology will severely damage the stability and organisation of a HF armed force. Communication within a platoon becomes nearly impossible. It has been made as easy to speak as possible for as many species as possible. This mostly worked, but required a large amount of effort by the Hyperion Science Association. There are still some races that struggle to speak various tones, at which point they often revert to writing it down.
