Menace - Class Artillery Frigate

Frigate of the Cypher Dominion which has little in the way of secondary armament, but its primary armament is a spinal railgun designed to punch into capital ships at range. The ship also packs some CIWS weapons to better counter missiles which also have long range. The Menace Class is also designed to be fast. This allows it to evade a lot of enemy fire at very long range. These are thus used primarily as long range anti heavy or artillery ships.
Although the railgun is very powerful, the rails will eventually heat up to extremely high temperatures with sustained fire, which could cause the rails to deform and significantly reduce the power of this weapon. As such, it must cool down the rails every so often and sometimes repair or replace them. The best option during battle is often to retreat and let the rail cool down.

Power Generation

The Menace - class is powered by a long range wormhole. This delivers power directly from a large power station to it (as well as a whole fleet), so their power plant is surprisingly compact and hard to hit. This has of course allowed the CD to fit more components in the ship and reduced the chance of incoming enemy rounds hitting the power plant.

Propulsion

The thrusters are a highly advanced form of antimatter annihilation thruster which directs the resulting radiation backwards and produce a powerful forwards force. It also has RCS thrusters which work in a similar way on a smaller scale, which makes the ship maneuverable.
