Operation: Aegis

A highly controversial order given by a rogue commander of the Purity of the Stars which initiated Operation: Aegis.   The order and Operation: Aegis was so controversial that even the Purity of the Stars removed the commander from service - but he managed to keep most of his army under his command despite this by making a lot of use of propaganda and well-thought out lies. The order was given to his unit to destroy the Eternity Gate using a Slipspace Bomb, making him an enemy of both the Purity of the Stars and the Hyperion Federation.   Thankfully, he doesnt have a techprint for a slipspace bomb, and even if he did have one, he would have to break through an immense defencive force (that the PotS would be willing to support of he attacked it). This makes the commander one of the most wanted figures that exist in the entirety of hyperion society. The issue was ordered because he believed there was something very dangerous on the other side. Whatever destroyed the precursors would very likely make short work of the current factions of the Fortrais Galaxy Cluster. The commander didnt realize that this gate was built by the precursors to escape the threat on the Fortrais side.   Therefore, he and his army continues to search for a slipspace bomb techprint under a misguided sense of heroism, possibly for the rest of eternity, Operation: Aegis being the common name given to this mission. Although he so far has never found such a techprint yet, it is almost certain that he would continue his attempts to find one and carry out this mission.
