Quark-Gluon Plasma Reactor

Large, advanced powerplant that is capable of producing large amounts of power by decaying quark-gluon plasma and harnessing the resulting radiation.
Quark-Gluon Plasma Reactors provide a middle ground between fusion and antimatter reactors. In fact, they hold some advantages over antimatter reactors such as quark-gluon plasma having a higher energy density by volume, but lower energy density by mass. This is because quark-gluon plasma is extremely dense and energetic unlike antimatter, but antimatter annihilates more efficiently. Such reactors have been used by a number of factions that are not the HF - but want to try and rival them.
Quark-gluon plasma reactors are a Cypher Dominion invention, but many others have copied the concept and have used it on their ships, like the Xalarin Council, Karnol Caretakers and HEX Mainframe. Although they produce massive amounts of power, the Hyperion Federation primarily uses quark-gluon plasma as a warhead, for good reason. It is extremely unstable and, if hit, will likely bring the entire starship down with it in a massive explosion. Additionally, quark-gluon plasma is more difficult to produce than either antimatter or fusion hydrogen. Despite this, the HF can often be paranoid of other factions advancing closer to them technologically and they make for excellent propaganda.
