Arak

Araks are portable dwellings built and utilized by the Junn Harr people of the western Steppe.  They are typically made of leather or wool felt and are most often round structures with straight walls and high-peaked roofs stemming from a central pole.  Size can vary widely, but it is most often dependant on how many adults reside within the arak.  Diameters of 10' can acoomodate 2 or 3 adults, while large araks can accomodate dozens.  Some large arakas can be erected together to make immense dwellings containing many rooms.

Raw materials & Components
Typically made of leather or wool felt, but can be made of almost any durable fabric or hide.  Pre-made poles, where the center post is the tallest, are erected and covered with the exterior material to keep out the elements.  Vents at the center pole allow smoke and stale air to escape out of the dwelling.  In some cases, treated and stretched bladders can be fitted into the walls of the araks to act as opaque windows.
