Museum of Biogenesis

Standing tall in the city of Athenia is a large building composed of chiseled stone and large, overgrown trees interwoven into the foundations of the building itself. Stone pillars covered in a tapestry of vines and flowers decorate the interior and form natural barriers to protect the various exhibits inside from the dirty fingers of those who would touch them unceremoniously. This building is the Museum of Biogenesis and stands as a monument to the magical art as well as a place to learn of the long history of the ancient organization.

Purpose / Function

The primary function of the museum is to show off all that the associated college has done for humanity over the centuries since it was founded. To this effect the museum is as much a zoo as it is a museum. Filled with countless animal exhibits housing many of the species the college is responsible for creating so they can be observed by visitors. It also has various non-living exhibits designed to showcase periods in the college’s history.    The museum is free to be observed by the public and operates on donations and support from the local government.

History

Originally the building was the College of Biogenesis and the center of learning the craft of life-magic. Thousands of mage-students came here every year to study and perfect their craft and many world-defining discoveries were made within its halls. However during the Creation War the college was attacked by an undead force from the College of Reanimation. The attack was ultimately successful and the building was burned down, leaving nothing but dead plant-life and burned stone.   The college re-located, and once the war was over efforts were made to revitalize the destroyed location. Much of it was re-built and regrown. Unfortunately the bio-mages decided it would be foolish to repopulate the old halls with their members after what happened last time and chose to change it into a monument to their greatest achievements and a place for the public to go and learn more about their order.

Tourism

The museum is a popular tourist attraction and remains one of the main reasons people visit the city of Athenia. Humans and non-humans from all over flock to the city to see the impressive exhibits and the strange and wonderful creatures within.
