Spirit Script
Spirit script is the language of the soul. Before a wizard may learn any of the words of power through which one can impose their will over the world around them they must first learn to write, and before they can learn to write they must learn to read.
Reading is fairly simple. Anyone who has learned to open their third eye and perceive the astral realm are able to do it, though interpretation is the more difficult part. When a wizard uses spirit script they inscribe their thoughts and feelings into the astral realm around them. Another wizard can see these inscriptions in the spiritual world clear as day and even read them, but because spirit script is not written in any earthly language it cannot be fully understood on its own. Spirit script does not convey meaning through specific words or symbols. It instead conveys ideas. Non-verbal expressions of certain feelings and non-visible imagery that invoke a memory in the depths of the reader’s mind. A wizard can read the script and feel the writer’s intentions, but unless they already possess the specific memories being invoked the true meaning behind the “words” will be entirely lost on them.
Because of this unique feature spirit script has become a popular way to pass on information to other wizards of one’s own order. It is used heavily in espionage as well as in sending secret messages to one another that they’d prefer others not be able to decipher for themselves. In essence one must know the writer very well and ideally have shared memories and experiences from which to draw from. By knowing the writer one can then interpret the meaning behind their words easily and without worry of mistranslation or misunderstanding. The writer does have to be careful however, as if they choose the wrong memories to invoke or the receiver, for whatever reason, has lost those memories they may not be able to comprehend the full meaning of the message.
