Vampire Powers and Vulnerabilites

Basic Powers:

(All Vampires have these abilities)
  • Immortality- The power to never age and recover from almost any injury.
  • Unnatural Strength- The power to exert great strength.
  • Unnatural Senses- Vampires have uncanny senses. They better sight, smell, hearing, taste, and sense of touch.
  • Unnatural Speed – Vampires can move at faster than the human eye.
  • Unnatural Healing – To heal rapidly from any physical injury.
  • Undead - A vampire does not need to breathe and cannot eat or drink without growing ill.
  • Vision- Most vampires have night or heat vision but there have been instances of blood flow vision, the ability to see the flow of blood of any living being.

Advanced Powers:

(Vampires can choose two upon creating their character. Once you have posted 100 posts you can choose a third. At 500 posts a fourth can be chosen. Additional powers will be granted after 500 posts at the GM's discretion.)
  • Flight – Fly without any outside influence.
  • Animal Control – Some vampires have exercised the ability to control animals; bats, wolves, rats, etc.
  • Aura Perception - An aura is the spiritual energy field that people and objects give off. Usually, auras convey the feelings or emotions someone gives off in a range of colors. Someone with aura perception can see these colors in someone’s aura.
  • Omnilingual - Having the ability to speak and/or to understand all languages.
  • Pass as Mortal - Some vampires can effectively pass as mortal, eat and drink food (even enjoying it), appear to breathe more natural and other than a slight pallor to their skin which can be covered with makeup (or glamour) to make the vampire seem 'alive'.
  • Power Sensing - The ability to sense the powers of another person.
  • Resist Sunlight - While most vampires cannot rise before sunset and must 'sleep' at dawn, some can rise early and remain awake a bit into the morning. While they will still burn in direct sunlight (especially at midday) they can travel outdoors in shadow or undercover with only mild to moderate discomfort.
  • Day Walking (Requires the vampire already has Resist Sunlight) - Some vampires may remain awake throughout the entirety of the day though they will still burn in direct sunlight and must stay in the shadows or darkened places. Though they can remain awake during the day, they will still need to 'sleep' at least a few hours while the sun is still up or suffer exhaustion as any sleep-deprived person would.
  • Shadow-walking- The ability to walk from one shadow into another- must be visible from the entrance.
  • Spider-walking- The ability to move along walls or ceilings like a spider
  • Glamour- The ability to shift appearance such as hair color, eye color, skin tone, and removal of minor blemishes.

Vulnerabilities:

(All Vampires have these vulnerabilities)
  • Sunlight - Vampires are burned by the touch of direct sunlight. If exposed for prolonged periods, they will combust and be reduced to ash. However, vampires can survive in shadows or covered though they will often find it uncomfortable both physically and emotionally.
  • Sleep of the Dead - All vampires must sleep during the day. This sleep is complete and total and cannot be disturbed by anything short of physical harm done to the vampire. The place of rest must be in complete darkness without a hint of sunlight such as a windowless room, coffin, crypt, or underground. For young vampires this sleep begins immediately at dawn and lasts until sunset. Older vampires may develop the ability to rise early, stay up late or even stay up most of the day though they still must rest at least a few hours while the sun is up.
  • Silver - Vampires are vulnerable to silver and can be burned even from skin contact. Wounds from silver weapons act as wounds to a mortal, heal slowly, and can be fatal if the wound is to the head or heart.
  • Garlic - Vampires dislike the smell of garlic to the point of revulsion.
  • Invitations - A vampire cannot enter a person's home without being invited. This is only true of a person's home, not public places, spaces, or dwellings owned by the vampire. Once given invitation cannot be revoked (at least revocation will hold no power beyond courtesy).
  • Holy Items - Vampires dislike holy items, will avoid places where they are displayed and can be repelled by them when held by a true believer.
  • Holy Water - Vampires can be severely burned by holy water.
  • Wooden Stakes - A vampire can be subdued by a wooden stake through the heart though the stake must be kept there for if it is removed there is a chance the vampire can be revived.
  • Beheading - A vampire cannot be revived if they are beheaded though this requires a silver weapon or that the vampire is already subdued with a stake through the heart.
