Drooltongue (Goblin Tribe)

...though most tribes still worship Maglubiyet, there are a few rogue tribes that either worship [unreadable] kinder deity. One such tribe are the "Drooltongue". Though just as vicious as other tribes, they tend to hold no grudge against Humans or Elves and such, like most Goblinkind. Mostly they hunt in the adjacent forest to their Fortress, careful not to wipe out their prey. This shows a considerable amount of difference to any other Goblin gang, tribe or encampment that has ever been witnessed in centuries.   But please, don't be fooled, the Drooltonguehold their own in a fight. Most Goblins form pacts with groups of Wargs, using them as fast and powerful mounts. Wargs themselves are extremely aggressive and hard to defeat as they are, and Goblins ride these things into battle. Not the Drooltongue. I spoke to a merchant that travels near their lands every so often and he told me that this area once became targeted by a pack of Wargs. Hearing that the nearby human village was being attacked every other day by these beasts, the Drooltongue set out to end these animals. They Slaughtered dozens of them, and the remaining few were beaten, whipped and starved until they swore fealty to the Goblins. In a single days work, the Drooltongue save a Human village (an astounding feat of its own), hunted enough meat to feed their numbers for two winters, and managed to thicken their ranks with extreme efficiency.   Many Goblin tribes think of the Drooltongue as heathens or betrayers, even going as far as invading their territories in an attempt to claim their spoils as their own. The opposing tribes heads now sit atop pikes littered around the outer rim of Drooltongue fortress, their blood used to stain the walls and their fangs and claws used in traps hidden around the outside of the Drooltongue perimeter. Though all of these signs do not seem to make much of an impact, as even now, they are still attacked at random by rival tribes. The latest of which, known as the SpinkShank, suffered a crippling defeat, to which only their Chief survived. Apparently he escaped but swore revenge. (Though, personally, I don't see that happening any time soon)   The Drooltongue Goblins are unlike anything I have seen in my years of research on the Goblin race. These strange creatures are both damn near harmless and brutally violent all at the same time. I decided it was time to meet them mysel....   (the next few pages were crudely torn from the Tome)
— Extract from Encyclopedia Goblinica: a History, itself quoting from the last diary of researcher Harold MacDougal
The modern day Drooltongue tribe holds great reverence for their mighty past. The leader of the Spineshank tribe was eventually successful in his revenge; defeating the Drooltongue and driving them from their caves and killing their chieftain Urgog. Urgog was the goblin tribe’s pillar of strength, and in his absence they fell into disarray.   Before his death, Urgog had always forbidden the goblins from approaching the fort at the edge of the woods. But in a state of desperation they took up residence; and were soon lead by Argoz the Corrupt – so named because he had fallen under the influence of the mysterious Dweller in the Woods. In exchange for slaughtering one of his fellow goblins, the Dweller imbued Argoz with power allowing him to easily overcome guards on the road into Strawford. The Dweller’s goal was to convince Argoz to take the lives of all male goblins in his tribe. In return, the Dweller would have imbued him with the great strength needed to not only take back their caves, but also the town of Stawford.   This plan was stopped by SALSA and FIST; the tribe now views SALSA as honorary goblins and their leaders. They have agreed to live in peace with the people of Strawford and are working hard to fix up the Fort into a suitable home.
