King Harold (III)

Grand King of Thunderia

The third king of his name, and a descendant of a long line of kings of Thunderia.
For a century, the Kingdom of Thunderia became known throughout the lands and abroad as a fair and just rule over all citizens, Nobles and commoners alike, and for centuries, prospered.
However, King Harold (I), shortly after he claimed the throne from his father King Angus, slowly moved in a more oppressive and draconian rule; a tradition continued by his Son and by the time his Grandson, the current King of Thunderia, King Harold the 3rd, assumed power, Thunderia had gone from a prosperous kingdom to an oppressive and feared Empire not to be trifled with.
Harold the 3rd's eldest son, Harold (4th of his name), is kept hidden and secret from the public; none outside of the royal family have seen him. His two younger sons, Marcus and Heath serve roles in the military and the court system and his daughter Zara serves as a scholar of the magical arts and is the Headmistress of the Sorcery College and is the head of the Civilian Courthouse.
As is tradition, King Harold married his father’s youngest queen (The Underqueen). He has only taken two Queens to date.
King Harold the 3rd attributes his families rule of the land with an iron fist to three key points of domination. the first being Military might. Early into the King Harold the 1sts reign, he recruited many well known mercenaries and warriors to only become generals in his army, but to become instructors to the masses, ensuring that the armies of Thunderia were all highly trained physically and mentally making them superior soldiers. Two hundred thousand men heavily armed and highly trained all at a beck and call by the king.
The second point is Information. this was not a new strategy by the King of Thunderia, as his Great Grandfather Angus had also coveted information as much as riches and power. Since Angus, every king of Thunderia has had a Spymaster. A person close to the king who has a network of spies, assassins and thieves at their disposal, insuring all whispers rumors from commoners and other lands reached the Spymasters ears, which in turn were fed to the King, allowing him to keep his stranglehold on the land as tight as possible and squash any form of revolt or treason.
The third is Magical knowledge. though this may seem like a given in these times, but not only is there a school established to nurture and train those adept at magic, scholars within those wall spend hour and days and years researching magics to not only master difficult or long lost spells and rituals, but to create new and unknown power to unleash on enemies of the Empire.
With all three of these points locked down, King Harold the 3rd has a grip on this land that neither his Father or any of his forefathers before him had achieved.
