The Royal Military

Knight-Elite

The highest level a knight can reach in Thunderia, these elite guards are supremely loyal to the King and the Prince. Each member of the royal family has a squad that guard them at all times, including tasting their food. The Knight-Elite are exceptional fighters.  

Generals

Control the military in each region, and given a title:
  • General of The Black (Gedag)
  • General of The White (Capital)
  • General of The Blue (Portland)
  • General of The Silver (Lowlands)
  • General of The Green (Oceanside)
  • General of The Yellow (The Wilds)
Each General has a squad of their own Knights to defend and protect them, despite the General’s generally being exceptional fighters in their own rights. In many cases, the title is quasi-hereditary, with the new General being trained from birth to take up the mantle when their father retires. Should the current General die before their firstborn is of age (typically 25) to take up the mantle, a Knight-Sergeant will step in to be the acting General.  

Knights

Follow same naming conventions as the generals, multiple in each region (excluding the Wilds). Responsible for maintain the Kings rule and controlling the guards in their Region. There are two types of Knights:   Knight: children of nobility, graduates of the Royal Knights Academy. Typically young and brash.   Knight-Sergeant: Awarded to those who have shown exemplary service to the Empire. Typically older, more reserved.  

Warrant

Granted the authority to pass judgement in a judicial role, and sign arrest warrants. Appointed by the General, but report to the Knights.  

Crowns guard/City Watch

Guards in larger settlements, organised in both military and policing. Reasonably well trained, the majority act to maintain law and order within the city itself. Four ranks within the Crownsguard:
  • Rookie
  • Guardsman/Guardswoman
  • Senior Guardsman/Guardswoman
  • Captain of the Watch

Guard

Conduct local policing in smaller villages and towns. Local militia will report to the guards. Report to their Guard Captain.  

Militia

Local guards and fighters who defend the villages against goblins or other creatures. Generally, poorly organized and trained, made up of famers and other citizenry.
