Session 013: Island of the Scorpion Report

General Summary

Session 13: Island of the Scorpion   The Chosen gathered supplies & set their course to the constellation of the centaur.   Sydon, of course wasn't pleased & summoned a hurricane to slow the heroes. The waves knocked Hulgnir over & he was saved by John. They knocked over Ollidak who was rescued by Veronica.(edited) After three days of leaving Mytros, the Chosen came to....   The Chosen came upon three monks fighting giant scorpions. They helped fight the scorpions but when that beautiful Centaur named, Nessa arrived. She began attacking the scorpions. After they were defeated the monks turned on Nessa.   The Chosen defended her & killed all the monks.   They went to their village & took part in a contest.   Nessa explained her curse to John, & asked if he would bond with her. She would be loyal, & true. She doesn't like war & has Druidcraft as a cantrip. John agreed eventually.   Hulgnir bonded with Pholon.   They learnt of the Sphinx in the Obelisk.   They saw nothing until they walked through flowers. Hulgnir tried to send his dragon home & it was struck down. So he revived it & kept it close.   The Chosen saw 7 windows. Hulgnir tested one & didnt feel any glass, they could've fallen through any one of the windows (maybe.... portals to other worlds).

      The Chosen confronted the Lotus Witch a Sphinx, banished from the Island of Time. They answered her historical questions & she teleported them onto the ship.   She told Euadne some things about curses & refused to remove the curse on the Centaurs.   After much discussion the Chosen picked the constellation of the Bard. John thought it would lead to the Island of the Fates. We shall see next week.   Cerulean Gulf

  Completing two/three islands will grant a level & a fame point.   NPCs on the boat with the Chosen:
  1. The Lady of Coins, she's going by Moxena. Euadne made a deal to help her reclaim her throne on Themis.
  2. 0Versi, child of Sydon. The Oracle. (Mother to the spirit of Hulgnir's ancestor thats in the locket he was given. The father being Sydon, Versi's & Hulgnir's ancestor spirit.)
  3. Pythor, alcoholic Womanizing Leonin God of Battle.
  4. Kyrah, Goddess of Music. (She's become family to most of the Chosen of the Oracle.)
  5. Bullbug (Freed Minotaur, & first mate on the Ultros.) [Sleeps beneath the wheel.]
  6. Aurak (Quartermaster of the Ultros. Gold Dragonborn.)
  7. Jason (Cook of the Ultros, Human.)
  8. Bastion (Navigator of the Ultros, Triton.)
  9. Oren (Captain of the Ultros) [Sleeping in the Captain's quarters, Estor Arkelander's room for 500+ years.]
  10. Circe Warlock to Vallus. She is a Stronghold improver. (Her spells are: Teleportation circle (when she reaches that level), private sanctum, arcane lock, glyph of warding, & Nystul's Magic Aura.) She was found by Vallus & will assist with making spells permanent on one Stronghold at a time. The party will pay for the cost of the spell(s) & give her a share of their loot.
    The Chosen have successfully completed an Island Euadne wisely got agreement for you to be able to return to the Lotus Witch earning her an inspiration point.(edited) Oren read the 4 books that Euadne won & became proficient in Arcana. Then went to study a book made out of what looked like Human Flesh It was a book of dark rituals of turning mortals into Maenad. If the girls ate of the food in the Mossy Temple they'd have transformed & fought the Chosen. It also contained every single necromancy spell in Thylea.   Was anyone else doing that? Becoming proficient in Arcana in 4 days by reading books.   Ollidak would take a look at those books, yeah Ollidak Okay, then we can add that to Ollidak's proficient skills. When he's done. Since each island takes 3 days to travel to it'll be easy.   The books that give Arcana proficiency are common knowledge, the flesh book was pocketed by Oren in the Mossy Temple, so only he knows about it (he never mentioned them to the party IIRC). The Arcana proficiency allowed Oren to understand what's in the tome made of human skin & blood.   I've added both of them as PCs so they can: earn money, keep items, have things attuned to them. They'll be able to buy their own equipment. Though I now wonder, did John bring his horse & wagon onto the boat. (Nessa/Pholon will be willing to pull the wagon, if needed.)(edited) John would not have brought the barding horse, because it would have been too out of the horse’s nature to take it to sea. Respect for creatures and their natures. He would have brought the wagon because “it’s mine. Ima keep it.” He would be too embarrassed to ask Nessa to pull it out of respect for her sentient nature. (He would be morally torn though if a debate against the “sentient” stance was taken do to his ability to speak with animal, thus making all speakable creatures somewhat sentient.)
