Player races: what's available and what's not
The following lays out what playable races are allowed for a PC and what aren't. Also the rarity of these races in relation to the general population. Note: if you play a 'rare' race, be prepared to stand out almost anywhere you go.
Notes on Settler races: Dwarves, elves, gnomes and halflings are all descended from the original settlers or outsiders who arrived during the last centuries. Half-elves are descended from a a native elf and native human. Half-orcs should come from a small community in Mytros that has existed since its founding. Tieflings can come from a union between a mortal spellcaster and a fiend. A dragonborn could be someone who has the blood of a dragon in their veins.
Notes on Native Races: Centaurs, Medusa and Minotaurs are monstrosities. Satyrs and Nymphs are fey. Sirens are celestial. Minotaurs are medium sized, not large.
