Dryad
Basic Information
Physical Appearance
Dryads, when not resting in their trees, took on the form of a humanoid female with green skin and bark "scales" that represented the bark from her tree. The age Dryads appeared as reflected that of the age of her tree, appearing as young as a toddler or as old as an elderly woman. All Dryads had green skin, with brown or black hair, and long, pointed ears. They were all beautiful, with the younger ones having a "cherub" look.
Gender & Reproduction
Although all Dryads present themselves in a female form, this is not a true reflection of their sex. In actuality, a Dryad's true sex is that of her tree's. If her tree produces pollen, her sex is male; vice versa, if her tree flowers to bear fruit or produces seeds her sex is female.
Reproduction for Dryads is, therefore, exactly like that of a tree's. The male tree produces pollen, which then gets carried either by wind or by insects or birds to the female tree's flowers. The female tree is then fertilized, producing seeds that, when distributed, will sprout into a new tree. Their young are called Seedlings.
Civilization and Culture
History
For thousands of years, Dryads lived on and sustained ti'Rae. Their magic is what kept the planet healthy and green, safe from meteors and strife. Even though they beared powerful magic, they were not infallible. Slowly, the population of Dryads waned and faded; Seedlings never emerged from their trunks, while others simply went to sleep and never woke up. By the year 12892 FT, only one Dryad remained awake.
