Barukthund Werebear
Castle Barukthund
Helonde's obsession with the barbarians is well known, to the point that it is part of their mythology. When she manages to spirit one away, she curses them with lycanthropy, turning them into polar werebears. These monsters make up the elite fighting force of Helonde's menagerie.
Basic Information
Anatomy
Half-man, half polar bear. Their aging process is significantly slowed by their curse, extending their natural lifespans by centuries. They are not immortal, however, and succumb to illness, injury, and neglect just as easily as any other mortal being.
Genetics and Reproduction
Lycanthropy Curse
Barukthund Werebears are created through lycanthropy, they do not reproduce. They are neither bear, nor barbarian, but both. Unlike other lycanthropes, a bite or scratch from one of these monsters is not contagious.Behaviour
Barukthund Werebears are wholly loyal to Helonde and the Winter Court, they are not slaves or under a control spell. As part of their transformation, their memories of their former lives are completely wiped. To them, all they've ever know is life in castle and on the steppe. They fight with the ferocity they had in their mortal lives, attributing their fighting spirit to their animal natures.
