The Blood Moon is a rare event that can occur at the beginning of a night.

Effects

The moon glows crimson red, and so does the sky, land and sea for the entire night in the region, with the water looking indistinguishable from blood. Sometimes, the moon appears as a bloodshot red eye for just a moment.
Some fallen beings not given a proper burial turn undead, certain beasts will become enraged by the moon and turn stronger and completely hostile, and certain creatures will rise during the blood moon. The rate of monsters becomes abundant and they will raid civilizations for blood. Werewolves will always transform regardless of the moon phase.
When the night ends, the blood moon will be no more, and its effects on Tierra will subside. However, undead creatures awakened by the blood moon will continue to roam the land.

As a forewarning, Moonstones will turn red the day before a blood moon.

Circumstances

A blood moon cannot occur during a new moon phase, or if other lunar events are occurring such as a solar eclipse. A blood moon is more likely to occur if there has been a very high amount of living deaths in the area. A blood moon will never happen twice a week.
Gazing at the moon with a Crimson Sextant for too long will cause a blood moon to start.
