Lens Crafting

This rather unique technique was invented by a Chironite centaur, Euthymios, who had equal skill in Terra and Ignus magics. He was apprenticing to become a glassmith, thanks to the unique combination of elements he was touched with. His mentor was an elder centaur, and had trouble reading his old note and sometimes even the study books. Euthymios struggled to find a way to help his mentor, as it was becoming increasingly annoying to have to stop his own studies to read something aloud to him. One day, he placed a thicker block of glass on a parchment of paper while he deliberated on what to do with it. As he walked past the table, an interesting image caught Euthymios's eye. The letters had been magnified!   Euthymios spent the better portion of three days combing through all the literature in his master's possession to see if such a thing had been created before. As far as he could tell, it hadn't been done. Excited, he rushed to wake his master. Over the next month, the two of them worked together to figure out how exactly the light refracts through the glass, and, more importantly, how the master would be able to wear the modified glass over his eyes. They came up with a way to mount the molded glass inside a metal frame that sat on one's nose. While the first pair pinched the master's nose terribly, his annoyance at the pain vanished when he was able to read some of his old notes for the first time in over twenty years.
Inventor(s)
Euthymios, a Chironite centaur.
Access & Availability
Not widely available at first, for the centaurs thought it could only be made by magical means, since the refractive index needed to be very precise and had to be customized per individual. Then a human doing research in a centaur library saw one wearing the glasses and worked with them to figure out a way to make them more widely available.
Discovery
Discovered by Euthymios in the year 43 of the Fourth Era in his quest to quit being interrupted in his studies just to read something to his master.
