Bladereavers
The Bladereavers are devout followers of the God Levistus, Lord of the 9 hells, swordsmanship, vengeance and betrayal. They have stood by Levistus's side through millennia, bringing new acolytes or enslaved souls to serve Levistus. After the Realmswar they played a pivotal role in Levistus regaining freedom. They manipulated devils, mortals and gods alike in order to align things perfectly to get their master out of his Icy prison. Once freed they worked to achieve his goal of ascending to a true god status and becoming lord of the 9 hells.
The Black Blade
The black rapiers wielded by the Bladereavers are crafted in a secret forge known only to the highest echelons of the cult. This infernal forge, hidden within the depths of the Nine Hells, is a place of dark magic and malevolent craftsmanship. The location is shielded by powerful enchantments, making it nearly impossible for outsiders to discover. The forge itself is fueled by the essence of the Nine Hells, drawing on the infernal energies that permeate the plane. Skilled demonic blacksmiths, bound to the will of Levistus, labor in the shadows, shaping the rapiers with meticulous precision. The process involves using rare and otherworldly materials, including enchanted metals that can withstand the intense heat of the forge and the frigid touch of Levistus' icy influence. The black rapiers are more than mere weapons—they are conduits of infernal power and symbols of the Bladereavers' allegiance to Levistus. The blades are imbued with enchantments that enhance the wielder's combat prowess and allow them to channel the cold energies of betrayal and vengeance. Only the most skilled and loyal members of the cult are granted the honor of wielding these black rapiers. The weapons are considered both a mark of distinction and a tool for carrying out the will of Levistus. Each rapier is personalized for its wielder, etched with infernal runes and symbols that resonate with the individual's connection to the God of Betrayal. The forge and the crafting process are shrouded in secrecy, known only to the Grandmaster and a select few Highblades. Attempts to locate or infiltrate the forge are met with swift and deadly retribution, as the Bladereavers guard this sacred aspect of their arsenal with the utmost vigilance.Structure
The Bladereavers operate under a hierarchical structure, mirroring the infernal hierarchy they seek to influence. At the pinnacle is the Grandmaster, a high priest chosen by divine revelation or through infernal trials. Beneath the Grandmaster are the Highblades, influential leaders who oversee specific regions or aspects of the cult's operations. The Darkblade Acolytes make up the majority of the priesthood, with varying ranks based on their expertise and accomplishments.
Public Agenda
While the Bladereavers operate in the shadows, their public agenda is veiled in secrecy. On the surface, they may appear as a mysterious and exclusive society of swordsmen and sorcerers, dedicated to honing their skills and maintaining a disciplined lifestyle. They often infiltrate mortal societies, seeking individuals with potential for power and manipulation, subtly guiding them toward the path of the Bladereavers. The cult's ultimate goal is the continual manipulation and domination of the Nine Hells, in accordance with Levistus' divine aspirations.
Ethics
While they value loyalty within their ranks, betrayal is considered a virtue when directed toward enemies or those who threaten the cult's objectives. Ambition, cunning, and ruthlessness are encouraged, and members are expected to prioritize their own infernal ambitions above all else. The pursuit of power through calculated means, including manipulation, subterfuge, and strategic alliances, is the highest ethical code for a Bladereaver. The ends justify the means in their relentless quest for infernal ascension.
Priesthood
The priesthood of the Bladereavers is an exclusive and secretive order, with members known as Darkblade Acolytes. These individuals undergo rigorous training in the arts of swordsmanship, infernal magic, and the manipulation of both mortal and infernal politics. The acolytes are chosen for their cunning intellect, unwavering loyalty, and ruthless ambition. Their primary role is to serve as intermediaries between Levistus and the mortal realm, carrying out his will and spreading the influence of the Bladereavers.
