Anatomy

The Nothing is totally incorporeal in form, are completely invisible to all except creatures that can see into the ethereal plane or those with truesight, and loosely resemble the humanoid figures that they were in life. They come in all shapes and sizes just like humanoids from the realms of Timeuria. Their physical appearance is grotesque and gruesome but you can still make out basic features of their original form in life.

Genetics and Reproduction

The Nothing do not reproduce or breed in any normal sense of the word. They are "born" after a soul refuses to pass on to the afterlife and into Lethra's embrace. Usually this results from not accomplishing ones goal in life and possessing a will strong enough to have ones sould remain on the material plane even after death.

Growth Rate & Stages

As a newly formed Nothing they have an insatiable desire to consume the souls of living creatures around them. This rapidly fuels their transformation through the stronger stages.
As the Nothing continue to spend more time in the world devouring the life force of other creatures, they grow in strength and become much harder to kill and detect making them and even more formiddable opponents.

Ecology and Habitats

The Nothing has no preferred area that they stay in, as they tend to stalk their victims and exist on the boundaries between the ethereal and material plane. They converge in areas where the living are most concentrated. This makes random attacks on the living much less suspicious as humanoids die all the time from natural causes.

Dietary Needs and Habits

The Nothing are required to consume souls to maintain their form and ability to resist Lethra's pull to the afterlife. The more they eat, the easier it is to resist her call and stay on the material plane.
The stronger the souls of the living creatures they consume, the more powerful the Nothing become.

Behaviour

The Nothing are solitary creatures and hunt continually in order to feed their desire to remain on the material plane. From their behavior it is believed that some of the stronger Nothing may even think that they can eventually return to the world of the living through this process. This drives them to forgo any reason and exist for the sole purpose of eating souls until they nearly burst.

History

The Nothing were created by the God of liches and necromancy, Odaris, as a cruel joke against Lethra, The Goddess of Death. These abominations resist her call to the afterlife with undying fervor for fear of being relegated to the land of the dead. The exact point in history when they first came into existence is unknown but we know through followers of Odaris that they were created in the Miracles Era.
