Morgan Owlwood
Native to the Gulok Republic and a strange member of the Owlwoods, Morgan is an established and longtime fisherman and captain of the sea.
Morgan was born on a ship. His parents were sailors and worked with their own crew on the Icarius. When Morgan was born, he seemed to have a pearl in his mouth. His parents knew what this meant, that the goddess Thassa had chosen him, and knew he was meant for great things. From then on Morgan worked the ship with his parents and crew, they were one big family. Morgan prayed to Thassa everyday holding the pearl in his hand, through her he learned how to cast spells and learned how to fight through his family. He had decided to become a healer of Thassa, always ready to repair his crewmates after any fights that get out of hand, or people going overboard, and from the many illnesses his crew would develop on the open sea. Any port we visited to get supplies, they would always go to the local tavern and drink and make merry.
At age 13, tragedy struck. Out at sea, his crew was ambushed by pirates. The crew fought hard and Morgan tried to heal everyone as fast as he could, but he was taken out. When he woke up he was tied up, and his entire crew was dead, including his parents. A storm was approaching, and the pirate crew threw the bodies and him overboard, destroyed the Icarius, and left them as sharkbait. He had to get out, he prayed to Thassa as he watched his crewmates get taken under the sea by the storm churning the sea, when he watched his pearl bubble to the surface and glow a sea-green color. He struggled out of his bindings and swam to it as the pearl grew from a pearl, to a sailboat. He climbed aboard and saldy watched his family get taken under the sea as he sailed away to ensure his survival. In the distance he saw the pirate ship sail away, just barely able to make out the name, “The Monsoon”, and swore his vengeance on the crew that murdered his family. From then on his drinking became less of celebration, and more of remembrance of his family, and it became harder to stop. He still sailed the seas, earning money by being hired onto ships as a protector in asking for Thassa’s assistance to not let the ship be taken down and act as a sort of protector to ships and ensure safe voyages.
