Alexander Hamilbur
Arron and Alexander are Twin Tabaxi. Growing up in the Southern Seaport town of Chun, the brothers were supposed to take over the Nine Lives General store, a store that had been in their family’s name for generations. However, they did not like this idea. Growing up, they were never all that serious about business, always looking for something more fun or exciting. Their greatest joy early in life was going with their father to other towns. Their father would work on growing his business relationships, and always took his sons in the hope that they would learn something, and kindle a love for business, but the twins would always slip away and go to near by market places, or theaters, where they would explore, watching and listening to the stories, music and general talk that people would have. During this time, a few things would develop.
Firstly, a great passion for music and storytelling was born. They would spend hours listening to the bards tell great legends and stories of times of old, and they would listen to the great ballads. Through these, they began to have a yearning to learn the instruments themselves. They secretly bought their first instruments and began self teaching their instruments around the age of 13.
Secondly, they learned stories of the great instruments, and in particular, the story of one of the greatest bards of all time, Theo, the hero who sacrificed himself to make sure that the rest of the mythical heroes could save the world during the Calamity of the Second Moon. They learned that there was once a great city in the desert, Theologia, that was dedicated to this great bard, and was built around his resting place, but the city was lost to time during the Fall. After hearing of these instruments, they became driven to try and find them anyway they could. They began hoping and planning trips into the desert to try and be the first ones to find the city of Theologia, and recover the first of these instruments, the legendary Harp of Theo. (Side note: In reality, this “city” was more of a small settlement, as there was not enough time between the Second Moon and the Fall for it to really become a great city, but over the years the stories have grown to make it out to be something more legendary).
Third, soon after their 18rd Nameday, they learned of a growing unrest in the north of the Heung Dynasty, something that would change their lives. There was a revolt growing here, a revolution trying to break the caste system of the land. They grew enamored by the idea as they knew that they did not want to be merchants like their parents expected of them. Soon after this happened, their father discovered their instruments. After a fairly large fight, they left, and struck out on their own, with just their instruments, some spell components and the little amount of traveling gear they had accumulated over the years.
The Brothers began heading north, knowing that they would generally be looked down on in the southern areas, as Tabaxi are not supposed to be bards. They had some survival skills, so were able to live off the land, and since they grew up around magical components, they had some innate magical powers that allowed them to make some money on their way north. They used most of their initial money to buy supplies to make the trek across the great desert, and just barely made it, after they got side tracked trying to follow a map that they thought would get them to Theologia, but was disappointed.
Arriving in the north, they tracked down the growing revolution, and joined hoping to be able to amass some money to begin making actual expeditions into the desert. They made a small name for themselves, writing several songs to spread the word among people to allow their ideals of a free system without being forced into lines of work based solely on how they look, or what race they were. 7 years after coming to the north, the revolt went into full blown revolution, with the younger generations rising up and overthrowing the local governments. With the great desert between them and the capital though, that was the extent of what the revolution could do for the time being, though rumors began swirling that there was a powerful benefactor who was beginning to fund the movement to prepare for a greater push south.
It was around this time however, that the twins decided they had become too stagnant. They made plans to gather supplies to make their first expedition into the desert. This however ended in failure. After two more such expeditions, they began running low once more on funds. It was around this time that they heard rumors that the Church of Karametra had found one of the Great instruments. Alexander began making plans to infiltrate the clergy to confirm or deny these rumors. He began mentoring under a local cleric, and though he did not yet know it, was slowly drawing the attention of the goddess. While he did not necessarily follow the code all the time, he did think there was some merit to the ideals of the goddess, helping make sure the land was healthy for everyone. Alexander had a small dream growing in the back of his mind of turning the desert into fertile grasslands, so as to make it easier to hunt down Theologia.
The Brothers have recently decided to try their hand at more regular adventuring, in the hopes of finding more riches to be able to continue trying to track down the great instruments, as well as to grow their powers of music and magic. During one of their revolutionary adventures they were arrested, along with the group of revolutionaries.
