Conch
Conch comes from a long line of warriors. Both his parents fought and hunted for Cordo of Oko, as did their parents before them, and their parents, and their parents and so on. Some were high ranking, some very low, but all were warriors, and thus were respected by many, just not all. Thus Conch grew up with certain ideals: strength is what keeps you alive in Oko and companions who’ve proven themselves can sometimes be worth the hassle. Conch shows great respect for those who have shown strength in battle and looks down on those who have not, for they can never know what true turmoil is, at least in his eyes. He was too young to remember when his mother, Moonbeam, died, only 3 years, but his father Harbor would always tell him about how she fought in battle, braver than any warrior and sacrificed herself to the sea serpent so her battalion could get away, she saved all their lives that day. The thought never made Conch sad, it made him proud, that was HIS mother that saved people. However, there were many that called Moonbeam a fool, an idiot for letting herself become pray to that serpent. When he was young, Conch would be brought to his father and would tell him about another fight that happened between Conch and multiple different people, all because they insulted his mother. Eventually something had to be done, but as a soldier through and through, his fathers punishment was more of a boot camp. He would just shove Conch’s spear in his arms and do exercises: pushups, laps, sparring, swimming out into the ocean and back multiple times while fighting off any monster that tried to come from the depths for dinner. As a result COnch has scars all over his body. He resented his father for it at first, but he grew to love it. It taught him how to channel his anger into something more productive, making him feel stronger, but exhausted when he finally calmed down. He spent so much time holding onto that spear that he grew quite fond of it. When someone offered him a different weapon he refused, sure he could use different weapons, but this was his spear! If he lost it, he would get angry and just use his fists. Eventually his father taught him to bind the weapon to him so he could always summon it to him.
When Conch was about 17, he started seeing things whenever he got angry. He thought he spent too much time in the water at first, but it was too constant. Visions of other tritons in a haze of purple would come into view. He never recognized them, until one showed up: his mother. She only spoke once to him, “Your family will always help you”. Anytime he got angry in a fight, they would always appear, and the enemies started missing a little bit more often, whether that’s because of his family or his own skills, Conch didn’t care.
Now Conch started learning more in a group setting and has made friends with four others, but two of them he is still unsure about, especially the aasimar that seems to not like fighting, but they help keep him alive, so he returns the favor, him and his beloved spear “Poon”
