Niclas Owlwood

Niclas is a strong man who always took care of his family. For a long time it was only his mother and he, his father had died just before he was born. Niclas showed strength at a very young age, which of course was noticed by one of the council members: Elmnear. Elmnear watched Niclas grow stronger with each passing year and offered to train him, Niclas would become one of Elmnears guards, how could he refuse? The only thing that stopped him was his mother when he was 10. Somehow, his mother was pregnant again, but she wouldn't tell him who the father was. Niclas knew he had to protect his mother and unborn sibling, and they didn't have much money, money his mother would need to provide for both of them. Luckily, a small contest was being held, for those dwarves who excelled more in strength rather than magic like the rest of the nation. The contest would hold different trials of strength, whoever wins the most, would win a prize of 100,000 gold, that would help Niclas' family a lot. At only 9 years old, Niclas excelled at every trial of strength and managed to win the prize money, unaware that someone had taken notice of him. After brining the prize money home to his mother, Niclas dreamed of a battle against a centaur with a winged helmet on using a spear. Niclas lost in his dream, but would get back up. The centaur laughed and commended him for his courage to keep fighting a god at such a young age and for his feats of strength. He introduced himself as the god Iroas, granting Niclas his favor. Niclas woke from his dream with a renewed sense of vigor, and love for battle. Once Niclas' younger sister Gretal was born, and ensuring his mother had everything he needed, Niclas went off to train to become a part of Elmnear's forces, showing Iroas he was worth the favor. Niclas eventually became a sort of hitman for Elmnear, taking out his enemies and those that did him wrong. Elmnear paid Niclas well,  and he succeeded in his fights, so Niclas did not think much of those he killed. Every few years he would return to visit his mother and Gretal, bringing her gifts from places he's visited, he was very surprised to find her with a beard, but she ensured him she was fine and that she was now practicing magic under Gingnowynn. Gretal and Niclas were often apart from one another and wouldn't see each other for years sometimes. Once Niclas came home to visit, he found his mother in tears. She gave him the news, that Gretal had died facing off against an ice dragon. Niclas mourned his dead sister for a long time, but soon had to leave his mother again, promising he would return soon. Months later, Niclas returned from a mission and was going to report to Elmnear when he overheard them talking, and heard Elmnear mention his mother's name. Niclas soon found out that Elmnear had killed Gingnowynn in Bravich, and since his mother was asking questions since Gingnowynn was Gretal's mentor, Elmnear needed to tie up loose ends and kill her, and Niclas was next. Niclas escaped from Elmnear's home, seething with rage. He found a quiet spot and prayed to Iroas, he asked for the ability to take down Elmnear and gain vengeance for the death of both his sister and mother, Iroas obliged, lending him access to magic as well. Niclas now had his mission, to kill Elmnear. He had planned it for so long, but he was also too impatient and was caught before he could get close to Elmnear. He was thrown in jail, along with others.
