You stole the voice in my head

General Summary

It was a bit of a hike following Wolfie, sometimes he would sit and stare, then dash off into a building, then he would reppear holding some random toy. Finally he headed up to the collisseum. We stared up at the four levels towering above our head. The arches cast forboding shadows on us. “I’ll check it out from up above,” Lili said as she floated up to the top. I could hear my friend grumbling in the back of my mind, but he wasn’t really saying anything helpful, so we hiked through the lowest level entryway. We exited into the arena and saw an impressive empty space with a stage jutting out into it. Off on our right a yurt stood to the side made out of a different stone. It felt wrong and newer. “Hey boss,” Romanoff yelled up at Lili from where he’d flown down to look at the yurt, “I think this building is friends with your old ally. You know the one from down there,” and he pointed dramatically down into the ground. “Or is it out there?” He flew in circles pointing into the unknown distance. I looked to our left and saw a scence etched into the stones. A larger than life man stood with a long spear in one hand and the other hand held up as if in greeting. It didn’t look like he had a shirt on, but I could see bands on his wrist and a circlet on his brow almost like a crown. Next to him stood a woman with classic features wearing a chiton. She too had a circlet over her flowing curly hair. Next to each of them stood two slightly smaller figures, possibly their children. A boy stood next to the woman, and next to the man stood a girl who also had a circlet. No, it wasn’t a circlet, it was a crown, quite clearly a crown, and it was more recently added to her figure. As I looked, I noticed a halo had been added to the king and prince figure, and the queen looked like she wore funerary gear. I turned and started to walk over to the yurt to examine it. The raw stone stood out in glaring contrast to the dressed and worked stone of the rest of the colliseum. “I can feel part of the song, but it’s wrong,” Cap said distractedly. “There’s a strange thrumming, like I can only hear one instrument of the whole orchestra.” I turned as I heard a rustling sound on the stage, and a giant woman with an ornate circlet upon her red hair. The arm bands on her wrists gleamed in the sunlight. She was beautiful, until you looked down at her waist, which was a snake. Behind her two slightly smaller figures followed covered in scales. “New guests I see,” her musical voice called out. Her voice thrummed with power, reminding me of how Aeiea would talk. I started to hum the song of my friend to block it out. “I have long been happy to see new friends to perfect. Come talk with me friends,” Milli and Wolfied start to walk slowly towards her. Lili shouted from above, “Is that the price you had to pay? You killed them all?” Her voice cut off suddenly and I watched in horror as she started to come towards us. “I perfected them,” and now her voice felt like it had power behind it. I ran to Milli and tackled her. My head rocked back as I connected with her, and it felt like suddenly I snapped into focus. My friend was fully awake, and he DID NOT LIKE THE YURT. At the same time, it felt like the yurt woke up. “Yes, come to me little ones, and be perfected,” the naga called as Wolfie reached her. She bent down and touched his forehead with a single finger. “You have been perfected.” He howled in pain and his arms changed into tentacles before our eyes. “Come forward little ones, I can perfect you all. You just have to come to me.” I could feel the compulsion was there, but it felt removed from me. “Eat dirt!” I shouted and thrust up into the air, but nothing happened. “That’s odd,” I poked my friend in my mind, “Can we fix that?” “Happily,” he roared. I left Milli, hoping she was back in control of herself and ran towards the yurt, singing the song full-throated. I could feel myself existing within my friend as I ran. “Stop! Witch! Stop!” she screamed and threw bolts of energy at me, and I could feel the shell of my friend dissipating, but I ran on. From out of the yurt stepped a small man in dark robes. His sleeves fell back as he gestured and his arms looked like wood. His bare feet peeked out from under the robe. “Romanoff,” Lili said through clenched teeth, “I don’t want to slip back. Help me!” Romanoff desperately flew towards Lili. Cap ran at the midget who had just emerged, singing at the top of his lungs as he wielded his glave. “Another has come to join me,” the naga exalted as she touched Milli’s forehead. “Be perfected.” Milli grabbed her neck as gills sprouted from them, “We will see if the strong survive as the weak are removed.” I heard in the background as I swung on the black robed midget. He dodged the blow and started to chant. From deep within his robe he pulled out a crystal, and waved his empty hand over it in a slow circle. The naga sends a bolt of energy at Cap and I. I ducked under it, but Cap was knocked back and lost his song. Romanoff flew to Lili, “You’ve trapped me! I can’t leave,” his voice became ever shriller as he flew back towards Lili. “Keep her from changing me,” Lili cried in desperation as she lurched to the naga. Romanoff turned on the spot and flew back towards the naga pulling his sword out. Cap dropped his glaive and threw his net towards the naga, but it fell far short of her. Milli turned from her shaking her head, and shot the midget. He blocked the first arrow, but the second he grabbed and threw back at me. I swung my sword and dashed it aside. “Avant!” screamed the midget, and I felt my friend leave me, and he ran into the yurt as fast as he could go. I started to follow him, but paused and swung my sword towards the naga keeping her spell from burning me. Out of the corner of my eye I saw him dash into the yurt. I charged into the yurt and smashed the foul altar in the room as I smelled elderberries in the air. I stopped lost in memories for a moment. “Elderberries and fresh pine?” From outside I hear a roar, I glance over my shoulder and a giant gold dragon is outside near the stage breathing fire on the evil minions. At least the dragon’s friendly, I thought as I saw Cap pulled up to the naga, but his shield flared up and he collapsed in a circle babbling like a baby. That’s when I realized my shoulder was tingling, and I dropped the fairy ring to the floor. The smell of elderberries and pine grew stronger and I remembered where I’d smelled it before. “I’m going through, who’s going to follow?” I called as I started to step through.
