Akata

The Akata are a species of humanoid giants from the planet of Galroria in the Wayspace Crystal Sphere. The Akata make their homes near the giant sky touching trees of the Galroria jungle and are kown for their towering stature, tribal lifestyle, and close connection to the natural world, the Akata inhabit the dense jungles and verdant landscapes of their moon, living in harmony with the rhythms of nature. The Akata tribes are disparate and have minimal communication, although they all share similiar culture and customs with changes from the enviroment around their tribes. They are devout followers of the gods of the land, life, and sky, with many of the akata tribes choosing one of these gods to follow, and basing their culture around their teachings.   The Akata culture has different expectations for men and women and they fill different roles in their society. In the dense jungle foliage of the Galrorian jungle the females of the Akata tribes typically fill the roles of hunter, warriors, laborers, and are the ones who typically adventure away from their tribes to explore the world. The males of the Akata typically fill the role of teachers, priests, family rearers, cooks, and artists. The male and female Akata do not have much different in them physically other than reproductive organs.   The method of Akata reproduction is what drives this intense division of intellectual versus physical pursuits in their society. Akata hatchlings are born in clutches of three to six, very rarely a single akata or up to eight have been born from a single Akata female. If Akata only produced a single egg it is likely they could survive the birthing process, but Akata women perish shortly after giving birth unless intense healing magic is applied to them. This inevitable end to their lives should they want to reproduce, and that instinct is very strong in the Akata, is what drives the societal wedge in their society. However, Akata have a unique biological ability to be able to fully control when they get pregnant, as they are only fertile after eating a specific herb on Galroria which synthesises the proper hormones in their bodies.   Akata are very natural focused, with most refusing to mine, work the land, or destroy nature in order to gain materials they need. Many of the tribes of the Akata are exclusively hunter gatherer societies, which works well enough for them to create stable static villages due to the unchanging seasons of Galroria and the abundant edible flora and fauna.   Though the Akata are the most prominent sentient beings on their moon, they are not the only inhabitants. Other species, both humanoid and otherwise, coexist within the dense jungles and sprawling landscapes, each carving out their own niche in the delicate balance of the ecosystem.   For travelers from beyond the moon, encountering the Akata can be a rare and enlightening experience. Their unique culture, deep connection to nature, and formidable stature make them formidable allies or formidable foes, depending on the intentions of those who cross their path.

Basic Information

Anatomy

The Akata are towering humanoid giants that range from seven to nine feet tall, with some especially tall Akata reaching ten feet, with especially short Akata being around six feet. They are lithe and muscular with rough gripping surfaces on the pads of their fingers and toes. The Akata have two large forward facing toes and one backwards facing toe. They also have a single thumb with three large forefingers. The Akata have their six mouths upon their chest, they have specific tubes on their chest that breathe for them, with four of the holes leading to their four lungs, and two of them leading to their one large stomach. They do not have any teeth, instead possessing powerful stomach acid and strong muscles down their long mouth that allows them to crush their food and then disolve any piece that are too hard or too large. Their sensory organ is a large pointed organ on their head that covers their brain. This pointed organ that appears stonelike in composition actually functions like an eye that gives them a 260 degree arc of vision that can switch between both the visual and thermal ranges of vision.
