Althorp
Government
Althorp is ruled by a magistrate appointed by the Emperor of Xosutan. This magistrate is chosen from a selection chosen by a local ballot of the land owners of the city, and the top five highest voted candidates go to be chosen by the Emperor.
Infrastructure
This city is built upon ancient ruins, who themselves were also likely built upon ruins in a cycle going back longer than any living memory, the current incarnation of Althorp is a newer settlement of six hundred or so years and boasts a complex infrastructure with a sewer system, thick and maintained walls, and magical street lanterns throughout all districts of the city, even the poorer areas.
Points of interest
Tower of the Wizard Irruvius- The tower of Irruvius is a longstanding mages tower carved out of black marble, or perhaps magically constructed, and dominates the skyline of Althorp. The bottom level is devoted to a magic item shop that is open to the public and guarded by its shopkeeper and a cadre of metal golems always at the ready. The internals of the tower itself are devoted to the wizard's studies and those of his students, both parties rarely seen outside of the tower itself, although Irruvius sometimes makes grand entrances to the tower on a flaming chariot of fire.
The Temple to Zatani- The Temple of Zatani, the Goddess of Sex, is one of the most beautiful buildings in the city. A large circular structure with a square park in the middle of it. The bright red roof and large stained glass windows make it a spot for many visitors to the city to visit, even if they do not intend to enter and partake of the temple's services. Although some temples to Zatani's have a reputation of overpriced brothels it is quite different with the priests taking only clients they fancy, and using the payment to benefit the community as a whole. This particular temple is lead by the high priest, the elf Ruyvn Dorrie. Among the other clerics and acolytes of the temple are the Goliath man Naramak, the red-headed human woman Florentia, and the tabaxi woman Defiant-Flower.
