Bas, Goddess of Death
Goddess of Death
Bas appears to their followers draped in the black flowing rope that once belonged to Morana, though they seem to have no physical form under the robes as they talk and emote the empty arms move in an expressive manner. Bas was once a mortal, and a group they worked with came together to cheat the Eternal Death/Morana, ending in the Death of Morana. Bas and their group usurped the power of the Eternal, their vast wellspring of power birthing a handful of gods, with Bas becoming the new god of the dead, responsible for collecting all souls heading to the afterlife. Although they initially were considered an evil usurper god among the pantheon, Bas has garnered decent respect and following over time as they have become accustomed to their role. She still is the leader of the gods Hex, Goddess of Witchcraft, Thorn, Goddess of Poison, Lana, Goddess of Revenge, and Raven, Goddess of Pain although her grasp on them and their actions is tenous at best, with her new role not always fitting in with the generally evil alignment of the gods under her command.
The Artifact of Bas is a large scythe, giving rise to the image of a reaper of souls wielding a sycthe as their weapon. This is an artifact that actually predates the God Bas and was the weapon wielded by the now dead Incarnation of Death, Morana. This scythe is said to be able to shear the soul from the body of a target struck by it, making them unressurectable, furthermore it also allows its wielder to become incoporeal, travel to the fugue plane, and deal devestating damage to a target struck by the instrument of death itself. It has not recently been wielded by any mortal, and it is generally believed to be hidden in the tomb of the last champion of Bas, or in Bas's own possession awaiting a new champion's rise.
