Eastern Shardlands
The Eastern Shardlands are home to a splinter kingdom of Dwarves that long ago split from Malth Kjarnarrik despite being an expedition turned colony when the event that formed the Shardlands occurred. The main population of these inhospitable lands are Dwarves and Earth Genasi that make their homes in carefully excavated portions of floating stones found throughout the lands, or even in the more hazardous underground regions of this area, home to massive caverns, creatures of living stone, and shifting passageways.
Malth Kjarnarrik still claims over this region although the claim is little recognized, and the Eastern Shardlands are home to another Dwarvish King and Earth Genasi Wife who rule over these lands rather benevolently. The government is derived from a paternal line tracing their lineage back to the original Dwarvish settlers in the area who came seeking the abundant exposed ore and magical stone that permeated the region after the elemental magic discharge that marred the land so much in the distant past.
The main exports of this Kingdom are stonework, with the stones themselves and their architects regularly being hired by other nations and wealthy individuals such as wizards who wish for a floating tower to be constructed, or a floating marble table, other than these golems that can compete with those made by Malth Kjarnarrik are sold to nearby militaries. A fierce rivalry also exists between the Aarakocra and Air Genasi of the Shardlands and the Dwarves and Earth Genasi of the Eastern Shardlands, although war has not broken out between these people in over a century. Due to the nature of the Shardlands and the incredibly unpredictable terrain the people of the Eastern Shardlands depend completely on imported food that cannot be hunted in the Shardlands, with the nearby Stellar Theocracy being their closest trade and political partners.
Fauna & Flora
Stonewyrm
The Stonewyrm is a formidable and majestic creature that roams the Eastern Shardlands. These large, serpent-like creatures are made entirely of living stone, their bodies covered in intricate patterns and ridges that resemble the natural rock formations found in the region. With their powerful limbs and sharp crystalline scales, they are well adapted to the treacherous terrain of the Shardlands. Stonewyrms possess the ability to manipulate and control the earth around them, allowing them to burrow through solid stone and create underground tunnels. They are highly prized by the Dwarves and Earth Genasi for their strength and resilience, often revered as guardians of the land.
Luminescent Crystalline Moss
The Luminescent Crystalline Moss is a rare and enchanting plant found in the depths of the Eastern Shardlands. This unique moss grows on the surfaces of the floating stones and within the underground caverns, emitting a soft, ethereal glow that illuminates the dark recesses of the region. Its translucent, crystal-like fronds give off a faint shimmer, casting a mesmerizing light that reflects and refracts through the surrounding environment. The Luminescent Crystalline Moss is highly sought after for its magical properties, as it can be used in the creation of various light-enhancing enchantments and potions. It is carefully harvested by the inhabitants of the Eastern Shardlands, who harness its radiant energy for both practical and decorative purposes.
