Eastpoint

Eastpoint, The Eastpoint Kingdoms, or The Eastpoint High Kingdom, whatever you want to call it, Eastpoint is known by many names and is made up of a variety of people. There is a common saying in Eastpoint "What do you do when you find an empty hill in Eastpoint? Build a castle and call yourself a king." This saying is used by both the primarily human residents of Eastpoint but also those who speak of this somewhat fragmented nation. The government here is in all technicality an fuedal empire, with a High King ruling over his vassal kings. This governing set up allows the vassals under the high king to wage war between one another, with the High King stepping in only if things get out of hand.
The current High King's position is becoming rather strained, with multiple of his vassals holding standing armies that match that of the High King himself, the only thing keeping most of them from overthrowing him is that other kings may stand with the High King against them, and the fact he is crowned by the head of the church in the country, and is proclaimed to be chosen by the gods by right of family line.
The main populace live in a serf based system, with many of their goals being to rise the ranks in their society. Court life dominates much of high society above that of the common worker. Despite this the workers in this country have developed a wonderful culture of cooking, and the people of Eastpoint are considered some of the best chef's in the world. They typically inport spices and ingredients from around the world and they are highly valued in Eastpoint, with many traders sailing around the continent to get here due to the profits to be had.
This nation also has an interesting military structure, with nobles or higher born citizens working as squires to knights, hoping to earn their place among their number. These knights lead well equipped units of cavalry that then in turn lead militia levies of the serfs that work under these knights. Due to the fragmented nature of Eastpoint for them to go to war, the High King must marshal his forces, and call his bannermen to war, the vassals then need to levy their serfs and knights and send them in support, although this doesn't always happen when the High King's reputation is strained with their vassals...
