Sithen

The Sithen are known for being the only people to ever make a permanent civilization on the Oblya island. Though very little is known of these isolationist people, their ancient stone cities are tucked far away from the coast and deep into the jungle they inhabit. Small wooden villages exist on the coast, allowing limited trade for the exotic items found within the Oblya jungles. These people have a close connection to nature and believe their souls are reincarnations of the great plants of the forest. They inter their dead under the roots of the most ancient vallenwood trees (which originate on Oblya). They believe their memories and experience are taken in as nutrients into the tree, and their souls fall like leaves into new bodies of those who get pregnant within their lands.

Fauna & Flora

Spiritwing Butterfly   The Spiritwing Butterfly is a unique and ethereal creature found in the jungles of Oblya. It is known for its striking appearance, with delicate translucent wings that shimmer with iridescent colors ranging from soft blues to vibrant greens. The wings of the Spiritwing Butterfly are said to be reminiscent of the vibrant foliage of the Oblya jungles.   The Sithen people regard the Spiritwing Butterfly as a symbol of spiritual transformation and the ephemeral nature of life. They believe that these graceful creatures carry the essence of departed souls, guiding them through the cycle of reincarnation. It is said that encountering a Spiritwing Butterfly is a sign of an ancestral presence and blessings from the spirit realm.   The butterfly's presence is often associated with significant life events and is considered a sacred messenger in Sithen culture. Its appearance during ceremonies, rituals, or personal encounters is seen as an affirmation of the interconnectedness between the natural world and the spiritual realm. The Sithen hold great respect and reverence for the Spiritwing Butterfly, considering it a guardian and protector of their ancestral ties.   Vallenwood Tree     The Vallenwood Tree is a majestic and ancient tree that holds great significance to the Sithen people. These massive trees are native to the dense jungles of Oblya and are considered sacred by the Sithen. Vallenwood trees are characterized by their towering height, broad canopies, and distinctive silver bark with intricate patterns. They have deep, intertwining root systems that spread across the forest floor, forming a complex network.   According to Sithen beliefs, the Vallenwood Tree possesses a deep spiritual connection with the souls of their ancestors. They believe that the memories and experiences of the deceased are absorbed by the tree, providing nourishment for new life. The fallen leaves of the Vallenwood trees are seen as vessels for reincarnated souls, symbolizing the cycle of life and rebirth.   The wood of the Vallenwood tree is highly valued for its strength, durability, and resistance to decay. It is used by the Sithen for constructing their homes, temples, and sacred objects. The leaves of the Vallenwood tree are believed to have healing properties and are used in various medicinal remedies by the Sithen healers.
