The Astarti Imperium

The current largest empire on the surface of the planet, the Astarti imperium is strangely relatively young to some of the declining ancient powers they share the world with. The Imperium has made its name in a 'offense is the best defense' approach to warfare, justifying their wars and annexations of neighboring nations by saying they were defending themselves from their potential future aggression. They are known for having one of the most organized fighting forces on the planet, masters of infantry warfare supported by fearsome War-Mages. Their governmental system is a consul ruled by an August. The current August, Galleric Tulian, is the fifth to rule the Imperium and current policies instituted by the last August and held by the current are to gather old technology left by the old civilizations, and make them useable for the Imperium.   The Imperium has a council of electors that rule over selected regions of the empire, these Electors are responsible for drafting new laws and legislation for the August's approval. This court of electors are all meant to have equal influence, regardless of what region they are an elector over, however the more prosperous regions typically wield more influence through bribes and trade agreements with the other electors. The August is an individual chosen from the Electors who has previously achieved the rank of Legate within the legion, with those two criteria met, the death of a previous August causes an election to go into an effect, where over a three week period a series of votes are cast by the electors, each time eliminating the candidate with the lowest vote count until only two remain, the candidate with the highest vote count in this last round is then named August for life, and is allowed to attune to the holy artifact of Talatorius, God of Strategy and Tactics, which is the Laurels of the Imperium.   A large contributing factor of the prosperity of Astartii is their ability to assimilate and integrate the various culture they encounter. With their founding myth Talatorius was the last remaining champion of a fallen tribe that went on to gather warriors from a hundred surrounding tribes, conquered those who killed his people, and went on to unite the tribes. Then went on to carve a path of conquest from his capitol of Astarti, to the sea. The Imperium has always tried to do its best to make electors of the people of conquered territories, as well as adopted the military tactics, technological innovation, and cultural ingenuity of these peoples. Since the passing of Talatorius many more cultures have been conquered and integrated to varying degrees of success, but all in all this has led to the Imperium becoming the most diverse and metropolitan empire on Tirestir. The only people that were unable or purposefully rejected from this integration were the tieflings.   The Legion of The Imperium is the single largest and most well organized military on Tirestir. Known for a defense in depth doctrine in their homeland, their war doctrine involving moving forward their legions through a series of forts being built forward, claiming the land from their enemies while fortifying their location at the same time. This has let them not lose any land they have claimed after the end of a war since their founding.   The decadence of the Imperium is used by many of its detractors as the main reason for standing against the imperium. The nobles of the imperium have a earned reputation for corruption and bribery, with the business of assassinations being formally illegal but thriving amidst the nobility of the Imperium. The military of the Imperium also operates with a certain amount of autonomy away from the government, and the slow decision making of the council of the Imperium means that many military decisions are decided and carried out far before any official stances might be taken against them, the only thing the military cannot independantly do is declare war against a state.   The average citizen of the Imperium is going to live a life free of much of the danger found in many other places in the world, although the steps needed to be taken in order to become a citizen are hard for many to achieve. You can only become a citizen of the Imperium under three conditions; you were born into a land owning family, you served in the Legion, or you were granted citizenship by someone with a rank of mayor or higher in the governmental hierarchy. Becoming a citzen holds many benefits such as the ability to buy and sell land, a lower tax rate than those who are not full citizens, and preferential treatment of military drafts, with residents being chosen over citizens.

Warfire Gryphon   The Warfire Gryphon is a majestic and fearsome creature that roams the skies of the Astarti Imperium. It is a hybrid creature, combining the features of a powerful lion and an imposing eagle. The Warfire Gryphon embodies the Imperium's military prowess and symbolizes their dominance in warfare.   The Warfire Gryphon boasts a muscular lion-like body with golden fur and fierce amber eyes. Its forelimbs are adorned with razor-sharp talons, capable of tearing through armor and flesh alike. Its hindquarters are that of a giant eagle, granting it immense speed and agility in the air.   What makes the Warfire Gryphon truly unique is its ability to harness elemental fire. These majestic creatures are trained and ridden by elite War-Mages, forming a formidable aerial cavalry that brings devastation to their enemies. With their ferocity, aerial agility, and fiery breath, the Warfire Gryphons strike fear into the hearts of all who oppose the might of the Astarti Imperium.   Glistranth   The Glistranth is a unique plant native to the lands of the Astarti Imperium. It is a rare species with vibrant, iridescent petals that shimmer in various shades of blue and silver. The plant grows in clusters, forming dense patches in open fields and meadows. What sets the Glistranth apart is its unique ability to absorb and store magical energy from the environment. The petals of the Glistranth emit a soft glow when exposed to magical currents, creating a mesmerizing display of ethereal light. The Imperium's War-Mages often seek out Glistranth for its magical properties, using it in the creation of potent potions and spellcasting components.
