King Sagan Tiriande, the Wise
King Sagan Tiriande, also known as Sagan the Wise, was king of Tiriande between x and y. They were known for their wisdom, being an accomplished mage and devotee of Deneir.
Together with their husband, Artur of the Bridge Tower - a peasant known for great beauty - he had one child, a girl named Felicia. Felicia died age 12 of a Valoran curse.
During Sagan's reign, tremors cause a rain of stones to fall on the city from the ceiling far above. To ward off further cave-ins, Sagan constructs a grand magical lattice over the city, assisted by a number of acolytes of Deneir among the Faerunian refugees. He found great solace in the writing of his ancestor Gormionel, during whose reign similar events shook the kingdom. As thanks, he orders the construction of a grand library for the collection of magical works and histories that came to be known as the library of Thornwick.
Sagan was the author of the 8th level spell known as Sagan's Overkill, which he used during a duel to obliterate a challenger within the first second. The king was quoted afterwards as having found the entire thing ridiculous, and having just wanted to get it over with.
King Sagan Tiriande died of poisoned wine at the hands of a servant, who mysteriously disappeared from the dungeons.
