"Ask me which I fear more, the elves or the dragons... well my boy, them dragons don't drive a man mad with their songs, then rip out yer heart and eat it for supper!"— A loud old farmer from Greyspine
Also known as "The Fae" or "Fae Folk," Elves are a primal and ancient race, that exists beyond what should be the realms of logic and reality. Their superhuman senses, speed, endurance, and strength, should by the laws of physics, be impossible. Yet through some strange and ancient magic, it is. Elves refer to themselves as "Sìthri," A term which extends to encompass the wider humanoid Fae in general. While great variety is found among them, Elves are for the most part dangerous and untrustworthy.

Physical Characteristics
Elves, like most sapient species, appear somewhat alike to humans, but with a few striking differences. Most noticeably, their pointed ears, and cat-like eyes. Many also take on other features such as antlers, horns, fur, bark-skin, scales, claws, fangs, and more, to reflect their own personal interests. This change almost always happens subconsciously, and though not purposeful, it is neither any sort of bother to them. Merely they see it as a natural part of living.
Elves tend to be of slim and graceful bearing, and possess what some claim to be an unearthly beauty to them. So strong is this allure, that many attribute it to some sort of enchantment, which given their Fae magic, is more than possible. Whether Male, female, or whatever, average between 5 and 6 feet in height, and typically weigh less than 140 pounds. Elves will often live for hundreds, or even thousands of years, but only the most powerful of their kin are truly immortal.
Abilities
Elves, unlike other humanoid species, do not need to sleep. Instead they enter a kind of trance, in which they connect to nature around them, letting it's energy revitalize them. This is often a time of deep thoughts and contemplation for them. In addition, Elves, and Fae in general, are beings of the Ancient Magic, so connected to this primal source, that it is a part of them. Humans live in fear of their "Charm-speak," but this power they have over human minds isn't something that is always intentional. Rather when Elves speak, there is enchantment in their words, as there is in everything they do. When weaponized, these charm abilities can be devastating to 'lesser' species, especially humans. One of their other magical gifts is for illusions or glamour, which they also use to befuddle or confuse humans.
As another effect of their natural magic, Elves are either resistant or totally immune to it's negative effects. They also cannot get ill, and hardly seem to ever age at all.
Physically, Elves are incredible agile and dexterous. Their physical abilities are alike to that of a human, but simply supernaturally enhanced by a seemingly impossible degree, given their bearing. In combat, their speed, grace, and coordination means they often favor dual-wielding, usually with an elvish arming sword in each hand. They also favor bows for a very distinct reason. Though in daylight their eyesight may not give them an advantage over human archers within bow range, it certainly gives them an edge after dark. Because of this, elvish sentries have always favored the longbow.
Weaknesses.
Nature seems to have realized how dangerous elves might be, and so to the joy of their enemies, Elves have one particular fatal weakness:
Cold Iron. It repels them, burns their flesh, and neutralizes their powers. This weakness is not unique to Elves, and extends to almost all beings of Ancient Magic, including other Fae, Goblins and Demons.
Psychology.
Elves experience emotion fundamentally differently than humans. They are often fascinated by human emotions and imagination, and sometimes kidnap humans to study them. Sometimes Artists, and sometimes children.
Culture
Elves like to sing, haunting and beautiful songs that have a deadly magic to them. Their songs can bring trees to life, create fire and burn stone, and most of all they can drive anyone who hears them mad.
Language
The elves, like the dragons and others of the Old World still speak the The Ancient Tongue.
