The Brutal One was tasked with conquering The Kingdom of Broolwugg. Here is where he earned his nickname, as every town, city or hamlet he took by force, he publicly executed their leader. He would personally murder them using his bare hands. Once the town was conquered, he would move to the next town with the most recent corpse and present it to their leaders promising a similar fate.
Using this tactic of fear and psychological warfare, most towns and cities surrendered upon their arrival. The Brutal One led a campaign against the Elven sanctuary of Serenity Grove in the Kingdom of Broolwugg. When he learned of the population consisting of almost exclusively elves, it is rumoured he is to have said:

I don't like Elves. They think they are better than the rest of us. Did you know that an Elf can live for hundreds of years? These ones won't.

The Brutal One tasked one of his top men to create a bridge over the sanctuary and set the majority of their forces at the mouth of the cliff. The Elves were trapped in their homes. The Brutal One then had his men rain flasks of oil and fire onto the city over the span of several days in an attempt to wipe them out.
It is said that some of the elves had escaped up the walls of his cliff and killed his men before fleeing. The Brutal One did not care.
The Capital closed their gates to the approaching city and began preparing themselves for a siege. The Legate was ready for this and had sent scouts ahead to learn of the guards on rotation and of their families. He had their families brought to him while outside the walls and personally began executing them until the guards opened a gate against their leaders orders.
Before long, the Brutal One and his men were in the Capital, killing indiscriminately until received the official surrender. The King was executed in a public forum after surrendering the rest of the Kingdom to the Legion.
It is said that it is this act of Brutality that made the rest of the kingdoms surrender.

Failures & Embarrassments

The Dominion of Bolvikik surrendered and requested the Kaiser's attendance to witness the surrender of it's capital, Titan. The Kaiser sent the Brutal One in his place. While being escorted through the mountains, the Duke detonated the mountains and crushed the Brutal One and his men, resulting in the first loss for the Legion.
The Legion's official stance is that he is currently Missing in Action.
