Biiyang Fortress

Biiyang isn't even all that impressive as a structure. Very basic foundation, hastily altered multiple times to suit the growing organisation and its needs. What is impressive is what it symbolises - an international commitment to safety. Hopefully the walls are stronger than they look.

Biiyang Fortress is a large fort, located on the island of Biiyang in Lake Strelish. It serves as the headquarters for the Wardens of Strelish, an international peacekeeping organisation for the region.

Structure

Biiyang largely consists of the central structure, a large rectangular castle with stout towers on each corner. Small single or two storey buildings have been built off of this castle over the years, and basements have been dug out to allow for the housing of wardens and the storage of their supplies. Thick stone walls and ramparts surround the perimeter in multiple rings, extending from the fort's hilltop position all the way down to the island's coasts. The bay on the south-west side of the island houses the Warden Fleet of boats, as well as a standalone shipyard for repairs and construction.

History

When the Wardens were founded in 75 Discovery, they were granted as a base the island of Biiyang by Varrzaxadh. It had previously been held by a defunct noble family, who had been charged with defending Varrzaxadh on the lake. The castle on Biiyang had been constructed with basic defense in mind, though the lack of naval conflict had left it underequipped.
The Wardens spent a decade refurbishing the fort to house their members, but were distracted from these efforts by the outbreak of war in the Xüfonz in 61 Discovery. At the war's conclusion, they redoubled efforts to shore up the fort, expanding to protect the dock. It has received irregular upgrades and expansions over the eras, including overall repairs after a fierce storm collapsed multiple sections of the perimeter wall.

Siege Ready

While the Wardens are rarely attacked directly, that isn't to say it never happens. Some pirates will attack the fort in retribution for past slights, and there have been multiple attempts to break into the fort and rescue arrested fellows. While Biiyang may have rudimentary physical defences, the wardens themselves are among the best in their field, and no attacks have made it past the dock.
