Duke Hintero is the current Duke of Shonyul, capital of The Vosti Empire. He is the nephew-in-law of the current emperor, Emperor Brimeon IV, and one of the most powerful figures in the empire.

Personal history
Hintero was born in 363 AC to Princess Idena and her husband, the Duke of Shonyul. He was their first son, and the first grandchild of Emperor Treveon II. His birth provoked much celebration, as it was now guaranteed that the Duchy of Shonyul would be attached to royalty.
His upbringing was highly pampered, receiving the finest education available in Vost. At 18, he joined the top military academy, beginning his transition into a professional soldier. His rise through the ranks was swift, and said to make his grandfather exceptionally proud.
He married his second cousin, Marchioness Muna of Emaldo, shortly after his 19th birthday. In total they would have five children, three boys and two girls, before she passed away in 390 in a boating accident, alongside her youngest son. He remarried in late 391 to Countess Elion of Wardis, and they had a son in early 392.
The declaration that Count Rumen of Powiton would be adopted into the royal family in 397 was a shock to many, including Hintero, who had privately believed he would one day ascend to the throne. After lengthy discussions with both his grandfather and his 'uncle', during which time many nobles were quite tense, Hintero emerged to declare his full support of Rumen as an heir to the throne. In the following five years, Hintero appeared many times alongside Rumen to reaffirm his loyalty, and appeared prominently at his coronation in 402 AC.
Hintero's son with Elion, Lord Brandeon Wardis, disappeared in 410 AC. The timing, shortly after he was betrothed to Lady Stelia Flinarzon, sparked much outrage from her family. An investigation into his disappearance concluded he had likely become disoriented after leaving the house due to an argument with the Duke, and had met foul play while in that state. He was declared dead in absentia and a funeral was held in early 414 AC for his family.

Hintero's mother was Princess Idena, eldest daughter of Emperor Treveon II. His uncle is the current Emperor of the Vosti, Brimeon IV. His aunt was Princess Kiani, through whom he is related to the current Duchess of Yantrum, who is also married to his uncle.
His first wife, Marchioness Muna of Emaldo, was his second cousin, related through his father. With her, he had five children. After her passing (along with that of their youngest child), their second eldest was made Marquis of Emaldo, rather than their eldest, who will become Duchess of Shonyul and Marchioness of Zenzon in future.
His second wife, Countess Elion of Wardis, is not related to him by blood. With her, he had one son, who has since been declared deceased. He has five grandchildren - twins from his eldest, one son from the Marquis of Emaldo, and two from his younger son.
Public Perception
Many people fear Duke Hintero, and quite rightly. As a senior official of the military, and a close relative of the Emperor himself, he is not one to be messed with. There is more to their fear than his status, however. Rumour abound that he has had many dissidents murdered throughout the years, whether they oppose Vost or merely himself. Many claim to know someone who is related to someone who has been killed by his assassins.
One person famously believed murdered by Duke Hintero is Baron Brasteon of Dovaldun, who disappeared in 392 under extremely suspicious circumstances. Hintero has denied all involvement, and Brasteon's family has formally retracted any complaints against him. The public widely believe that his family was intimidated into silence.
