Supreme Autarch

Overview

The Supreme Autarch is the highest-ranking position and leader within The Kromas Regency, selected for their immense loyalty to the* Regency and embodying the ideals of the Kromas people. The Autarch is often regarded as possessing exceptional leadership qualities and a strategic mind, being responsible for the entire planet in matters of diplomacy, military tactics and resources allocation ensuring the precarious balance of the Kromassian lifestyle remains consistently luxurious.
In an ironic twist the Supreme Autarch is a role that falls the closest to violating Kromasian doctrine than any other, for the figure appointed must carry out some degree of actual work.

Appointment

Autarch’s are selected from a pool of candidates chosen by the council itself of which the public are allowed to vote upon their preferred candidate. These votes are carried out based on reputation and qualifications alone and are not part of any campaigning or lobbying as is typical for elections on other worlds. The inability to favour more charismatic candidates over more qualified ones works in the Kromas favour by ensuring their elected individual from the small pool of options is indeed, in the people’s eyes at least, the most qualified for the job. Following their appointment, the inner circle gets the final decision of whether the candidate is accepted. Behind closed doors we do not know more about how this "final approval" is carried out.

Benefits & Dismissal

While the head of the Regency has access to the same major luxuries as the rest of their people, the Supreme Autarch enjoys significant perks of the role including private, opulent accommodation, access to specialised import services for more elusive luxuries, as well as a high degree of reverence for their proximity to the inner circle. Autarch’s act in a once in a lifetime role, serving for a total of 3-5 years before stepping down and beginning a new appointment cycle, this is done to ensure all members of the Regency get an equal shot at the position, maintaning the loyalty of their associated family groups.
