The Moonglow Revel
History
The Moonglow Revel began long before even Illadrias first era had begun. A festival, originally celebrating the changing of seasons marked by the peak of the convergence of Illadrias twin moons in the sky. In the beginning this festival was a time to come together in small communities, break bread, and enjoy the consumption of preserved foodstuffs from the previous year’s harvest in preparation for the hard work that would follow, harvesting the new year’s crops and tend to the fields, ready to begin a new cycle.
Over time as Illadrias infrastructure and agricultural techniques developed, the festival evolved into a much merrier occasion rather than a milestone to indicate it was time to harvest crops and plant fresh seeds. As the Illadrians embraced more elaborate and widespread celebrations to honour the convergence of the moons and the changing of seasons, the festival took on a deeper meaning. It became a symbol of unity, diversity, freedom and shared celebration with these ideals resonating even more strongly as Illadria became part of the wider galactic community.
Execution
The Revels vibrant event unfolds beneath the luminescent moonlit sky on Illadrias northernmost mountain range, The Halo Summit, so named for the breathtaking auroras that often grace the skies above the peaks, becoming a sheer kaleidoscope of colours during the lunar convergence. The festival takes place over three days and three nights, during which time artists and musicians from Illadria, as well as nearby systems, come together to perform and add to the celebration. Merchants and retailers peddling fine crafts and culinary delights set up shop to add to the celebrations as both Illadrians and guests alike flock to the peaks for the festivities. Famous culinary delicacies of the Revel include, Steamcrisp Brûlée, Lumina Fruit Tarts, Starlily Tea and many other dishes infused with nebula spices.
