The Sanctuary of Transcendence

Overview & History

The Sanctuary of Transcendence was created by the Xalax following The Destruction of Seta Prime, their ancestral home. While many were shocked to see, after their own misguided attempts at terraforming, the Xalax attempt practically the same thing again, this time it was in the hopes of creating a new sanctuary for the survivors. By chance the wandering survivors discovered a massive asteroid, in orbit around a neighbouring star and used their psychic powers to shape and mould it into their new home, a symbol of their strength and endurance as well as a reminder of past mistakes.
This sanctuary now serves as the one and only landmark of the Xalax race besides the ruins of their world.

Purpose

The purpose of the Sanctuary of Transcendence is twofold: to provide a secure environment for the Xalax to rebuild their civilisation and to serve as both their capital and new home world. Within its boundaries, the sanctuary has become a haven for reflection and education, where the younger generations of Xalax, many of which never set foot on their ancestral home, can develop and refine their abilities. Crucially however, they now approach their powers with a profound respect for the forces of nature and how devastating they can be if meddled with.

Architecture

The Xalax's new home is composed of the transformed asteroid with a core of solid rock reminiscent of the Xalax's ancient home world. To this end they have turned their asteroid home into a bustling space station / city with many merchants and travellers frequently making stops here along their journeys. One of the most striking features of the sanctuary are its orbiting rings, through metallurgic manipulation, rings of refined alloys infused with psychic energy slowly spin around the asteroid like the rings of many planets which help augment the asteroids gravitational pull to match that of a standard celestial body.

The sanctuary itself is comprised of buildings of stone, crystal and metal matching most standard advanced civilisations, though with the surroundings overflowing with lush vegetation and vibrant flora. Waterfalls cascade from rocky cliffs and from building rooftops, nourishing the new ecosystem while glowing crystals embedded within walls emit gentle ethereal light providing sustenance to many of the plants making it a glistening beacon within the darkness of space.

Defences

To protect their new home, the Xalax have implemented various defences, from safeguarding their structures are reinforced to the highest degree, to ensuring the orbiting rings are capable of warping the fabric of surrounding space if required to prevent unwelcome guests from gaining entry.
Besides this, the Xalax possess no great defensive capabilities, choosing to rely on their own psychic prowess to ward off intruders, their history however creating a scar of vigilance and caution, remembering how their actions can have deadly consequences.
For the most part however the Xalax are not easily threatened, prioritizing above all the environmental balance of their new sanctuary.
