Planet X
Planet X is a planet in the Andromeda galaxy, and the homeworld of the Utrom.
Geography
Planet X is the 4th planet iis solar system. It orbits in the habitable zone of a binary star system; X24-A and X24-B. Because of the immense heat the two suns produce, the goldilocks zone is much further from the stars, giving the planet a orbital period roughly twice the length of Earth's. The planet is orbited by 2 moons, Xerex and Corin, and also has a small ring of space dust around it.
The planet is very small, but holds onto a thick atmosphere of methane, oxygen, and nitrogen. The skies on the planet are a reddish hue and it's low gravity + thick atmosphere causes it to behave like water, allowing the creatures populating it to swim through the air, and allowing buoyancy to some lighter materials.
Much of the habited land is made out of an aerated lightweight mineral that allows it float on a layer of ethane that rests at the bottom of the atmosphere. This layer also creates a nasty storms beneath the islands that made traversing below impossible. Underneath the storm clouds is little but a dark sea of liquid methane and ethane, created from the cold darkness and the immense pressure from the atmosphere at those depths.
Ecosystem
There is a wide variety of life that exists on Planet X, but few can be classified neatly into flora or fauna categories, as many of the species on the planet are a combination of both. While these two categories exist in some situations, such as the purple tinted grass and planets, or animals such as Krathatragons, there's also a large amount of creatures in the family of fungus, which display animal like intelligence and behaviors after forming a hive mind.
Utrom are one of these fungus-animal hybrids, and are the dominant species on Planet X. Utrom have created a special mutualistic relationship with a species of rapidly growing, mailable fungus for their tech, known as Mycircuitry.
Localized Phenomena
Planet X is one of the few planets capable of having a double solar eclipse, in which the two moons overlap the two suns perfectly. This is an exceptionally rare event.
It's floating islands and ocean-like atmosphere is also unique to the planet.
Climate
The upper levels of Planet X tend to be quite warm as heat rises and gets trapped in the thick atmosphere above. It regularly rains and storms on the planet. The lower level is almost constantly shrouded in dark storm clouds which prevents light and heat from the surface to get past them, making the ocean a freezing pit of liquid methane. The interaction between the bitter cold and the mild climate above produces nasty storms that hail down onto the sea and produce hurricane force winds on the regular.
Tourism
The conditions on Planet X are quite harsh for most species so it tends not to get a lot of visitors from other space fairing races.
