Battle of Light

The first battle in the Thousand Year Wars that took place in the basin between the Mud Range and the Ore Mountains in what is present-day Qona.   The Hyum, jealous of the power of the Zo'nadros, attacked them in the Ore Mountains.   Never believing anyone would have the courage to fight them, the Zo'nadros were taken off guard. They prayed to their patron goddess Lii (also their great-grandmother) to help them. Lii went to Sow to ask Sow to speak to her creations, The Communion about joining the war. Sow agreed and also offered to create two warriors (The Twins) that would lead The Communion in battle.   Ultimately, The Communion's counsel voted to stay out of the war, however a small faction believed that obeying Sow was required as an act of worship. They split off and called themselves The Warriors, deciding to leave the Communion and fight with The Twins. For their decision, they were banished from The Communion forever.   As the battle grew, all of Alterisle became aware that there had already been San interference (Lii and Sow). However, they knew that more involvement in this battle would possibly lead to involvement in other battles, so they conferred on how to proceed.   The Warriors joined the Zo'nadros and began pushing the Hyum back. During the battle, the mother of the Zo'nadros, Tem Nesal saw her daughters fighting valiantly and, having inherited her mother's restless spirit, she happily joined their side.   The Hyum, seeing that the forces were growing on their opponent's side, prayed to their father, the demigod Oht, to help them. Seeing that his children were losing, he also decided to join the battle.   Dahn, of the Ice Shadow Tirava - and also Oht's mother - went to her partner Suuf with the idea of creating a new race that could fight like The Warriors and help her grandchildren, the Hyum. Suuf, who had been training his whole life under The Courting One as a EVENTIDE WARRIOR, loved this idea and together they created the Ikava.   The battle lasted many years, and Suuf began to ask for the help of his grandfather's army, the Eventide Warriors, many times. However, The Courting One did not see how the battle was his problem and would not waste his power on the issues of mortals.   Then one day, out of boredom, The Courting One decided to walk amongst the dead on the battlefield. While there, he saw his grandson Suuf's body amongst the others. He had not heard about HIS GRANDSON'S DEATH, and was immediately disgusted by the thought of his apprentice (and kin, though he rarely acknowledged this) being viewed as weak because it would reflect poorly on him. So, he headed down to UNDROTH to find Suuf, to bring him back.   After FINDING SUUF IN UNDROTH, The Courting One spewed anger toward Suuf, picked at his failures, yelled at him and hissed at his lack of abilities. Once Suuf was "properly" chided, The Courting One summoned his army, the BOUND LEGION and entered the war, and began decimating the other side. The Zo'nadros and their allies were forced to retreat west to the Ore Mountains. Seeing this, Suuf's anger for himself grew even hotter and he promised himself that he would regain the respect he deserved in the eyes of The Courting One.   MORE DETAILS HERE.   In the end, Tem Nesal was captured by the Ikava. Hearing of this, her father, Barii came down and blinded the enemy, helping to win the battle (earning it the name Battle of Light. However, Tem Nesal and many others had already been taken and imprisoned.
