Changeling

Although the popular rumor says that the race of changelings were somehow created when ancient humans interbred with the shape-changing creatures called dopplegangers, in truth, changelings are a race unto themselves who originated in the Shadowfell. These creatures escaped the gloom of the Shadowfell at the same time that the Shadar-kai entered it. Their lives in the shifting shadows had prepared them well for a life of deceit and confusion. Although they strongly drew on the powers of shadow when they first appeared, they have changed to a race that instead deals in changing and blending with the crowd.
