Salmagundi

 
Salmagundi is a popular dish in southern Aldorath, especially along the waterfronts of various cities. The word comes from the Halfling tongue, meaning simply "A bunch of stuff". It was originally used to refer to just throwing whatever food you had to hand onto a plate to serve, usually with the goal of clearing items out of the larder that were going to spoil soon. It has come to mean a mixed platter of meats, cheeses, eggs, and vegetables. It's a good meal for a group of folk with differing tastes and diets, as there's almost certainly something everyone can eat on the plate. It's often served with small loaves from bread that the diners can hollow out and stuff salmagundi into.
