The Tomb of Horrors is a legendary dungeon created by the terrible
Lich Acererak. According to some traditions, Acererak created the Tomb in order to house his dwindling mortal remains, while his spirit wandered the Astral Sea in search of new paths to immortality. Other legends insist that Acererak’s remains were never housed in the Tomb. These legends hold that Acererak created the Tomb to reap power from the souls of Adventurers who died within it.
