Char (CHär)

"When you do things right, people won't be sure you've done anything at all."

The Myriad Truths

An enigmatic deity, birthed from the echoes of a lost civilization whose demise remains shrouded in mystery. As if arising from the ashes of this forgotten world, Char embodies the fragmented knowledge and the unspoken secrets of a once-great society. He is a god who walks the thin line between illumination and obscurity, revered and misunderstood in equal measure.   Char's essence is a tapestry of contradictions, reflecting the multifaceted nature of his divine influence. To his followers, Char is not just a deity; he is a journey into the depths of the unknown, a guide through the labyrinth of the mind and the cosmos.   In the eyes of the world, Char appears capricious, a deity of whims and untraceable paths, leading many to dismiss him as a superfluous force, an unnecessary cog in the machinery of the divine. However, his devotees see a different face of Char. They understand that his perceived randomness is a veil, masking a deeper, more profound truth. To them, Char is the keeper of secrets that lie beyond the ken of ordinary beings, truths so powerful and transformative that they could shatter the minds of those unprepared.   Char's mantra, "When you do things right, people won't be sure you've done anything at all," encapsulates his elusive nature. It speaks of actions that ripple through existence in subtle but significant ways, influencing the course of history and the fate of civilizations without fanfare or recognition. It is a reminder that the greatest powers often lie hidden, exerting their influence in ways unseen and unfathomable.   To commune with Char is to embark on a journey of self-discovery and cosmic exploration, to embrace the chaos of the unknown and find freedom in the liberation from conventional understanding. His is a path less traveled, a road leading to the stars and beyond, to the very edges of reality and madness. In the realm of Char, The Myriad Truths, nothing is as it seems, and everything is a doorway to a deeper understanding of the universe and oneself.

History

This a short list of events that may or may not have seen the influence of Char, allegedly for the better.
  • The Collapse of the Silver Tower: Centuries ago, a devoted follower of Char demolished the Silver Tower, a center of arcane study and political power. This act led to widespread distrust and fear of Char's followers, as the tower was seen as a symbol of stability. However, devotees of Char maintain that the tower was a nexus for a catastrophic ritual that would have caused untold destruction had it not been stopped.
  • The Night of Whispers: A mysterious event where influential leaders across various realms reported hearing enigmatic whispers in their dreams, leading to a series of seemingly unrelated decisions that drastically altered the political landscape. Followers of Char claim these whispers were divine insights from their deity, guiding the world away from an unseen disaster.
  • The Vanishing of the City of Echros: An entire city vanished overnight, leaving behind only a crater. Many blamed a cult of Char, accusing them of enacting a forbidden ritual. However, Char’s followers assert that the city was on the verge of unleashing an ancient evil and that its disappearance was a necessary act of protection.
  • The Oracle of the Mad Prophet: A renowned prophet, considered mad by many, made a series of predictions that all came true, except for the most dire one, which predicted the world's end. The prophet was a known follower of Char, and while many viewed him as a harbinger of doom, his followers believed he had actually prevented the prophecy from coming true.
  • The Great Liberator’s Uprising: A charismatic leader, inspired by the teachings of Char, successfully led a rebellion against a tyrannical empire. The rebellion was initially seen as a fight for freedom, but later narratives painted it as a destabilizing force that led to years of chaos and strife.
  • The Starfall Event: An astronomical phenomenon was interpreted by Char's followers as a sign to unearth an ancient, powerful artifact. The artifact's removal caused widespread panic and environmental anomalies. Followers of Char insist that this artifact was about to fall into the wrong hands and that they averted a greater disaster.
  • The Purge of the Forbidden Texts: In an era of religious zealotry, a major religious power ordered the destruction of texts considered heretical, many of which were linked to Char’s teachings. Followers of Char managed to save some of these texts, which they believe hold secrets vital to the world's survival.
  • The Rift in the Sky: A follower of Char, driven by visions, created a magical rift in the sky, revealing a glimpse of otherworldly realms. This event caused widespread fear and awe, with many seeing it as an omen of impending doom, while followers of Char viewed it as a revelation of the greater universe's mysteries.
